Artist Bio
Ivy Wright was born in Dallas, Texas in 2001. She began exploring visual art from a young age but really found her interest in jewelry design and working with metal when she attended Booker T Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts at 14. From early on, a lot of her art has included themes of nature and animals as well as exploring the relation between nature and man-made objects. Wright's work while in highschool was primarily sculptural, however she began to learn techniques that allowed her to work with metals.
Currently, Wright is continuing her education and working towards a BFA in studio art focusing in metalsmithing and jewelry making as well as ceramics. Her goal while there is to gather and master techniques to help open the possibilities of her art as she decides what her business and work will look like in the future.
Wright's work has been displayed in the Dallas Public Library, the “best of” showcase at UNTs CVAD, and the Hudson Gallery in downtown Dallas. She was also awarded second place in the jewelry category of the Young American Talent arts competition and was featured in their show. As her identity as an artist continues to grow, Wright hopes to continue showing her work and eventually start a business where it can be available for sale.
